Spicy aroma with bits of resin and dash of grapefruit. Full body and moderate carbonation. Sweet toffee taste with a pine bark finish. A tasty way to stretch the European Strong Lager style well beyond its intended parameters. MaltDawg (810), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Grassy floral hop accentuated aroma. Dark golden with tinge of amber clear with rocky tan head. Spicy bitterness over caramel. Sort of a lager version of an IPA? Good balance. Medium body and mouthfeel. Finish is sweet and bitter. yesyouam (611), Fairport, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 26, 2009 Krampus is a perfectly clear amber lager with a foamy off-white head that leaves thick, foamy lacing and has good retention. It has a strong aroma that’s a touch sweet, juicy like orange juice, spicy like cinnamon and clove. There are notes of hay and spice cake. It is medium bodied, smooth and a bit bubbly. The finish is light and dry. Wow! The flavor is more complex than I expected. It is slightly sweet and quite bitter. It’s a nice, wooden spice with notes of orange peel, clove, nutmeg and oak. It shows nice balance. This is some serious drinking here. I really didn’t need the entire 22! pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Lighter copper with an offwhite head. Sweet nose with spicy hops and maybe a bit of spice even. Alcohol. Light caramel. Fuller body, but most strongly characterized by a bit of syrup. Full sweet malty with lots of resinous hops. Lingering bite of bitter hops. A bit fruity. LiebeBier (793), Annapolis, Maryland, USA

I expected a super malty helles style lager. That’s basically what it is, which is great with some spicy hop flavor. Skyview (4108), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Purchased single 22-oz bomber at Cellars Wine & Spirits in Shorewood, MN. Pours a semi-hazy golden orange brew with a thin off-white head that leaves behind some spotty lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, citrus zest, some earthy herbs, and white pepper. Taste is medium to full bodied, very little carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, some mild spice, piney hops a hint of citrus and alcohol presence. Finish is slightly metallic from the extra alcohol with a lingering spice aftertaste. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Draft at Rattle. Creamy tan head with a medicinal toasty, caramel nose. Flavor has a ton of citric hops and a decent bready flavor. Alcohol is bumped way up, leaving it a bit fuesely. 12 ounces seems like a chore to finish and I couldn’t imagine drinking a bomber of this. Am I the only one that thinks Southern Tier is a little over the top with their bomber series? bp (483), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Another good brew from ST.
