Aroma - Chocolate, espresso, vanilla,alcohol.
Appearance - Opaque black with dark tan head. Head lingers for quite some time.
Flavor - Unbelieveable. Rich chocolate and roasted coffee upfront followed by slight vanilla, then warming alcohol.
Palate - Full and thick. More like an aperatif than what is normally considered ’beer’.
Overall - I split this bottle with a friend and we both agreed that this would be incredible with a nice dessert such as tiramisu or rich chocolate cake. Definitely not a ’lawnmower’ beer. Like all of the other Southern Tier products, this is worth a try.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jun 5, 2009 Bottle… This beer rocks!... Pours dark and sits black in my glass with a small, creamy, off-white head. The nose is a swirl of caramelized chocolate and espresso (more chocolate than espresso) with a suggestion of vanilla. Medium to full-bodied with laid-back carbonation. Sugary, malty, chocolaty flavor with a modest shot of espresso and a whisper of vanilla. Sweet mocha finish. Decadent. Luxurious. World class beer! Pours very dark brown, nearly black. Huge aroma of caramel, milk chocolate, coffee and prune danish. The flavor is caramel, milk chocolate, coffee and prune danish, with a bitter coffee finish. Sweet and delicious! GriffinAvenue (396), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2009 Bottle. Thin, black opaque coloring. No head to speak of. Coffee, roasted notes, banana. Cherry hint - fruity but hard to place. Even delivery with heavy burnt-toast coffee ground ending. solid. darkguardian (506), Florida, USA

Enjoyed this one on my birthday courtesy of Kevin. Better than Chokolat in that its more nuanced and complex. It doesn’t have quite the same chocolate intensity in the flavor. Pours a rich black with a nice sized tan head. Nose is huge belgian chocolate with bananna and as it warms up some hazelnut and roast come out. Flavor profile has intense powdery high quality chocolate up front. Roasted coffee. Finishes slightly nut with bready chocolate notes and a slight hint of coffee bitterness. This is way way underated. Amazing beer. GMCC2181 (879), Bear/Elkton, Delaware, USA

Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts and slight vanilla. Taste is lots of roasted malts, coffee, and a bitter chocolate taste at the end. Average texture and carbonation. Really easy to drink. I am glad I have a bottle to age... Overall... not as good as ST Chokalat but still good. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Bottle: Dark brown pour with a finger of creamy tan head. Aroma is a wonderful blend of milk chocolate and freshly roasted coffee. Sweet, yet roasty. Rich flavor is full of chocolate, roasted malts, and espresso. Lingering bitters and a creamy, mouth-coating sweetness. Another ST brew that really fits the description ver batum. I really liked Choklat and Jah-va was also very good, but this wasn’t quite on the same level. Still quite good. Thanks skinnyguy!
