Sep 17, 2009 poured thick and dark with a thin dark bubbly head that dicipated pretty fast. heavy and thick brew with a strong hint of alcohol. can tatse and smell the coffee and chocoalte. cant taste much hops and the malts they used are great. no lacing at all on the glass as i drank it. not bad. wont be searching hard to drink this one again though.

Black colour with low, brown head. Chocolate backbone in aroma, with notes of nuts and suggestions of menthol. Body is thick and oily with low carbonation. Pepperminty, bitter chocolate in flavour with orange traces. Medium-big mouthfeel and medium bitter.

Sep 16, 2009 22 oz. bottle; pours clear, light brown with faint tan head; primarily chocolate on the nose reminding me of choklat; rich, full body that again is primarily all chocolate; texture and finish is surprisingly thin though; coffee is hardly noticeable and in the end this came off as a watered down choklat; quite disappointing

Sep 16, 2009 Bottle: Deep brown near black with a tan film of head. Tootsie roll aroma with some sweet caramel flavored coffee- extremely chocolaty, yet as it warms and aerates the roast comes through more. Thick body but not cloying. Some grainy black malt, artificial sweetener, slightly under attenuated, sweetened dark chocolate, with a charred coffee presence on the back. A bit grainy with saccharine notes, but drinkable. I would praise this brewer for making these huge beers reminiscent of foods and tasting natural, but not for subtlety or finesse.

Sep 14, 2009 22 oz bomber. One word: WOW! Pours black, with tiny brown head. Aroma may be the most delicious I’ve ever smelled: pure fudge/chocolaty goodness. Even with battered taste buds, this beer is amazing. Goes down like a Starbucks brand iced-coffee-shake-thing. Tastes like swiss chocolate, whole milk, and a black coffee rolled into one. I say: go buy a Starbucks iced coffee drink, then drink it side-by-side with this beer. The only way you can improve on the Starbucks coffee drink is if you added alcohol... and Southern Tier added 11%!! Try this beer before you die.

Black color, small tan head (small due to the fat from the chocolate perhaps?) Apelsinkrokant/orange with chocolate scent. Salty, acidic, bitter, chocolate taste. Long dry bitter chocolate aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel, medium high bitterness.

smell is of milk chocolate, coffee, and a little vanilla.
taste is creamy, cocoa, some weak coffee in the back, a little licorice, and a little vanilla, ends dry and a touch of bitterness.
