22 oz bomber. Dark brown, almost black body with almost no tan head. Aroma is delightfully chocolaty with a hint of coffee. Flavor is quite sweet, but not cloying, heavy on the chocolate, with a bit of coffee bitterness, and some hop bite in the finish. The 11% ABV is well hidden. Palate is smooth and moderately thick. This probably isn’t the most complex beer I’ve tasted, but if you like sweet imperial stouts, and I do, it’s a wonderful beer.

Dec 30, 2009 Bottle shared by alexanderj. Brown pour. Aroma is cocoa powder lilke other southern tier chocolate beers. Flavor is the same with some grain and dark fruit. Not much other than the chocolate, and the flavor sort of became a little less appealing as I drank it.

Dec 30, 2009 22 oz. Opaque black with a lasting film of cream. Aroma is pure semi-sweet chocolate. Flavor is the same, turning to vanilla and coffee with some corn and alcohol on the finish. Medium-heavy body is slightly watery, smoothly carbonated and roasty dry.

Pours deep opaque black with a fine, creamy, beige head. Good lacing and fine duration. Typically sweet Southern Tier aroma, chocolate, milkey, light perfumey. A bit of caramel. Medium carbonation, fine milky creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is very sweet, light sugary, some milky chocolate. Light vinious, mild coffee. Fair coffee-bitter finish. Still far too sweet for its own good, but this one is okay.

Dec 27, 2009 Bottle. Somewhat disappointed with this one. You can tell that it’s coffee and chocolate for sure - that’s the scent, that’s the taste. But there’s an uneven-ness to it. Rather than a coffee and chocolate smooth combination, it feels like they just mixed Choklat and Jahva together - which is exactly what they did. Sometimes it’s the sweetness of the chocolate, sometimes it’s the bitterness of the coffee, all in one swig. It just kinda clashes, and not in a good way, IMO. I’ll stick to Choklat or Jahva individually in the future.

Dec 26, 2009 This is a super aromatic beer. lots of chocolate. easy to drink for 11% alcohol. black in color. coffee notes hidden under the chocolate roast.

Dec 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours pitch black with a creamy tan head that left good lacing. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts and had a hint of vanilla. Rich and smooth flavor of sweet dark chocolate, roasted coffee, espresso, caramel and a touch of vanilla with a medium plus body and had a nice warming finish. A world class dessert beer.

Dec 24, 2009 Rating 600. Nose is almost purely chocolate. Poured pitch black with a head that disappeared quickly. In the mouth it is medium bodied with lots of dark chocolate, sweetness and lingering espresso bitterness. Lots going on and well made, but just doesn’t have that wow factor I look for in beers of this style.

Aroma of chocolate, coffee, white sugar, high sweetness.
Flavour is sweet, lots of milk chocolate, very minor roast, some light alcohol.
Warming sweet mouth, med/large body, mod carb.
Finishes warm, long and quite sweet.
I’d much rather have this for dessert than the creme brule. This has balance and there is more here then just sweetness.
