Commercial Description:
When empirical and creative impulses collide, the result is often timeless. The classic utility-art aesthetic of the coffee maker is an example of design and engineering working in concert. It is through similar cooperation that the simple bitter cocoa bean is transformed into a sweet treat. As scientists, our brewers utilize their materials to exacting standards. As artists, they couldn’t resist the temptation to combine the best flavors of two of our highly acclaimed Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts, Jahva and Choklat. Alone each is perfect, but together as Mokah, they are an inimitable expression of two of the world’s most sought after flavors. Enjoy Mokah stout with - or as - your favorite dessert! Cheers!

Bottled. Black colour with low, brown head. Chocolate backbone in aroma, with notes of nuts and suggestions of menthol. Body is thick and oily with low carbonation. Pepperminty, bitter chocolate in flavour with orange traces. Medium-big mouthfeel and medium bitter.

Black, thin beige head, light lace.
Aroma of chocolate, coffee, white sugar, high sweetness.
Flavour is sweet, lots of milk chocolate, very minor roast, some light alcohol.
Warming sweet mouth, med/large body, mod carb.
Finishes warm, long and quite sweet.

I’d much rather have this for dessert than the creme brule. This has balance and there is more here then just sweetness.

650ml bottle purchased at Premier Gourmet in Buffalo, New York.

Opened on July 19, 2009.

No date.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma has strong notes of mocca, caramel, and chocolate. The flavor is sweet with notes of strong notes of chocolate, mocca, malt, roasted malt, and vanilla, leading to a dry mocca and chocolate finish.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a very dark brown - close to black - with a tint of red and a small beige head. Sweet aroma of vanilla sugar and artificial chocolate accents. Medium body, hard roasted malts and sweet chocolate and vanilla. Some alcohol in the finish. Not so good, and not very coffeeish. 161209

Side by side southern tier blind tasting with Choklat, Mokah, and Jahva. Solid black with a thin light brown head. Aroma- roasted malt, vanilla, dark chocolate. Taste- milk chocolate sweetness with a mild bitter roast bean. Alcohol is noticable and slightly hot. Coffee bean finish with moderate bitterness. Thin milky texture.

The favorite of the Southern Tier Stouts. This beer is what turned me on to stouts. And I’m proud of that. Its pour was a beautiful deep brown with off white head. Nice lacing. The aroma was roasted malts, reminiscent of a winter drink, coffee and chocolate combined. What a great idea.

Bottle. I’ve had this twice, once on draft at Malt and Vine ( HI Scrizzz!) and once out of bottle at Fretts house. Both were lovely. I would almost call this Speedway-lite if I might be forgiven. This is the sweetest of the 3 Southern Tier stouts I’ve had (Mokah, Oat and Jahva) , and for me falls right in the middle in terms of taste and complexity. It is black as sin, with a thick tan head, and the nose is indescribable: all the best things about sweet stouts rush to the fore; toasted marshmallow, coconut, milk chocolate, sweet espresso, maple, and dark fruit all jump out at you. The palate, if a shade sweeter than necessary is also redolent with big, joyous flavors. Not the masterwork of balance that the Oat is, but world ahead of the Jahva, I would buy this again for the sheer happiness this beer brings me.
