On tap at the Bocktown, a really friendly and fun place. Smells mildly sweet and hoppy. Looks like any ubiquitous pale lager. What can be said but otherwise terribly on style. Oily mouth coat. Long lasting soapy bitter mouth. What is it with this oak thing and beer, could not taste any wood. Could not enjoy, way too rude to the lager lover. Long lasting uncouth linger. Done for the day. I hate this style, its a real eye opener.

Pour from a 22 oz bomb. golden copper color and bountiful white top. Nice aromas of lemon, orange, oak, and pine. In your mouth it is very creamy smooth and full bodied. Flavor is a hop bonanza with some sweet malt and oakiness Finish is a good balance of sweet and dry bitterness. Tasty ber.

pours a cloudy apricot amber with an off-white head. aroma is citrus, pine, apricot, caramel, a hint of grass. taste is a big caramel citrus infusion with a light hint of oak (light, but that’s a good thing for this one); pine and grass notes finish it out. really hits you hard with a blast of flavor, then moves into strong bitter, then finishes mellow bitter caramel. nice warming in the finish; alcohol blended well. mid-full bodied with prickly carbonation and a slick mouthfeel. some oak aged brews have just too much oak and it really overpowers the brew (imo), but this one is just gentle enough to get the point across. really a great brew, one of the best from southern tier. you really get the cascade goodness southern tier is becoming known for!

22oz bottle served in a Duvel tulip. Clear amber pour with a small vanishing head. Smells sweet and syrupy, lots of caramel and a touch of oak. Taste is caramel, oak, pine. Deep bitterness cuts though the heavy, sticky body. Not nearly enough hops for me to drink it and think DIPA. It is more like a pale ale with 3X the alcohol. I don’t know why I keep buying beers from Southern Tier. None of them ever really tickle my fancy except for their regular IPA and Hop Sun.

Not as wonderful as the non-oak-aged IIPA. Great flavor is mellowed and somewhat evened by the oak, but, to be honest, Southern Tier aced the regular version, one of the best IIPAs around I think, and this messes with it in ways that it didn’t need no messing. Still a great beer, just a bit sludgy now.

Bottle (650ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow & tupalev -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a clear golden-orange with a spare diminishing white head. Aroma: Well it smells exactly as it advertises, an oak-aged Un*Earthly -- it’s pleasant. Flavour follows the aroma: Sweet, malty and floral aroma along with piney hops, fruit and oak -- basically an Un*Earthly with vanilla added. Medium bodied. Pretty good but I will gladly take the regular Un*Earthly over this.
