Bottle, pours a hazy, orange-yellow body with off-white head. Nice grapefruit aroma with sweet malts, sugar/caramel along with floral and pine hops. Flavor is similar with the grapfruit initially on the palate followed by citrus and sweet malts and then finishing with the floral and pine hops. Nice, smooth mouthfeel; well-balanced and lightly carbonated.

Couple bombers w/ the bro during Ohio visit. He was really into this ... I agree. More of a oakey barleywine really...Some nice piney hop bitterness, but very mellowed and rounded out by the overpowering oak finish. I can see how this isn’t everyone’s thing ... but I really liked it.

Courtesy fantomas23. This one pours a bright amber-orange color with a dense, foamy tan head that shows good retention. Ribbons of lacing coat the glass. The nose is malt forward with sweet caramel and toffee malts, new oak, and vanilla showing big sweetness. Some citrus and piney hops add a hint of bitterness but are overpowered. The flavor shows a good bit more hop presence with the citrus and pine and are balanced out nicely by the oak and vanilla. The oak and vanilla really seem to take control and smooth the bitterness from the hops and adding ample amounts of sweetness. The mouthfeel is full and creamy, and a touch syrupy with some subtle bitterness from the hops on the finish. This is a good beer, but I think I prefer the regular version better. I am still on the fence about the oak aged ipa’s as they seem to wash out the hops too much.

On tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a clear golden orange with a white head. Aroma of honey, pine, grapefruit, citrus, hops, caramel, oak and vanilla. Lot of flavours going on here. Bitter and sweet. Good one.

Aroma is somewhat muted but clear citrusy hops. grapefruit. Under that, the oak and pine really start to shine through. Really enticing. THe body is clear lightish orange with a thin covering of head. Flavor is bitter heavily muted by the oak, the palate creamy.

orange with decent white head. nose of oak and citrusy hops. moderate carbonation. flavor begins with moderate bittering hops followed by citrusy and spicy hop flavor that is very nice. a significant malt sweetness and some the oakey flavor pervades the entire beer from bittering to malt finish, which initially provides a dullness to all the flavors, but as the beer opens and warms the oak fades to the finish and becomes more complimentary than aggressive. the alcohol in this is very well concealed, providing depth only and very little heat. a unique beer and a good one

22oz bottle. Pours a clear, orange with a tint of amber body. Finger-width, dense, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves some nice lacing. Aroma is just as sweet as the "un*earthly" with a hint of oak. Lots of fat caramels with big oranges, peaches, and melons. Still maintains a light piney resin behind the oak. Flavor is also similar to the original. Deep pines with lots of sweet, fat malts and juicy fruits. Not very aggressive, but robust. A mellow oaky wood gives off a very subtle, mellow taste and yields to a bit of vanilla as well. Finishes dry with a sweet, fat caramel, resiny fruit, light woody aftertaste that lingers for a good amount of time. Better aftertaste than the original thanks to the mellowing oak. Palate is medium bodied and still maintains a little stickiness while staying very smooth. Overall, I think I like this just a tad better than the original. More of an aftertaste. The oak doesn’t bring a whole lot to the all-around beer, but the subtleties it offers are very enjoyable. Well done.
