Aroma of citrus and a tinge of oak. Flavor is big, very big. Aggressive, somewhat harsh and hot. Sweet and somewhat thick. Like a hoppy barleywine. A little more heat than I would prefer, but perhaps i’m just a puss. I think if this was around the 8-9% range, we’d have a winner. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 17, 2009 Thanks oldgrowth for sharing. Pours a translucent honey gold with a thin offwhite head. The nose is hoppy, pungent, resinous, definitely sticks with their C hop regimen. Not crazy about the aroma or flavor of the Southern Tier hop profile in general. Flavor is a bit sweet, resinous, hoppy, citrus rind, some oak. Palate is resinous and bitter. Maltajo (109), TARRYTOWN, New York, USA

Nice red golden pour with short lasting head. The Oak Barrel aging defenetly mellowed the hoppy flavor. Very smooth fruity with notes of that oak barrel way up front. A very nice beer!

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jun 15, 2009 Bottle. Bronze color. Clear. Static, no head to speak of. Pinot-noir, wine-like initial aroma. wooden, hoppy, hints of butter, citrus, rose, sweet. Quite nice and a good pickup where you can find it. JoeTheYounger (293), California, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 14, 2009 Bottle that Mike and Di brought for Sean (duffanSW). Aroma and caramel and citrus. Very smooth from the oak. Good carbonation, kind of cloudy. Not too hoppy because of the oak. Awesome stuff. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 14, 2009 22oz fresh bottle. Pours a nice amber orange with no head. Aroma is hoppy and bitter with just some oakiness. The hops provide some fruitiness as well. Flavor is upfront hoppiness resin and fruit, then the oak appears as it rolls over the tongue. Finally the caramel sweetness finishes long and strong. Really nice and very easy to drink. LtDan (522), Los Angeles County, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 13, 2009 Appearance: Pours a bright copper with a small amount of gathering suds.
Aroma: Citrus, a small bit of wood, sugary caramel sweetness, and pears. Very perfumy.
Taste: Honey, pear, bitterness, caramel and wood.
Mouthfeel: Juicy and sticky.
Overall: Fantastic, but not an IPA. If you are looking for that fantastic, unique blend of hops used in OG Unearthly IPA, you won’t. This is nearing barleywine territory, and is mighty impressive. beerdetox (14), Illinois, USA
