Taste of malt, hops, then you get the oak flavor-all in that first second it hits your taste buds. What a great creamy tasting beer. Nice mellow aftertaste-you can’t taste the alcohol.. Well-balanced. Lots of various tastes-all merging together in unity. I like this beer. It left some lacing. Juelze (919), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Pours a rich amber color with thin off white head and mild white lace. Aroma is mango, pineapple and resinous hops. Taste is very citrus, earthy and resinous hops with very subtle oak finish. I was expected a little more wood flavors in this beer. Finishes clean, creamy and good amounts of carbonation. All and all it was a decent DIPA. Petrucci914 (598), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 12, 2009 Pours a golden color with a medium creamy off-white head which leaves some rainy streaks on the glass. Aroma is piney hops, caramel malts, pineapple, grapefruit, and some sugary sweetness. Taste is much the same.....quite bitter up front and rather cloying. I expected the oak to mellow down some of the bitterness but it is still quite strong and sweet. 17thfloor (1507), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 12, 2009 Rating 995, 5 to go! Pours a dark cloudy glowing amber with a super creamy off-white froth 4.5. I’m glad the oak really comes through in the aroma alongside of the IPA notes. Aroma of piney hops, sweet caramel, some oaky vanilla and coconut, completely well balanced 8.5. This is a very nice beer. The vanilla and coconut notes from the oak really compliment the piney hops and caramel malt 8.5. Smooth and mellowed while still presenting fresh flavors. The oak might be a tiny bit strong after a while leading towards that sun-tan lotion taste and maybe over powering the hops just a tad. The oak really takes the bite out of the hops and definitely seems like tons of chips. Some tea flavors, not overly sweet, bitter oaky finish. Great mouthful, creamy and full, not sticky, fine sharp sizzling carbonation. lamas (730), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 11, 2009 22 oz. bottle. Fairly clear orange/amber body with a thin sandy head. Great balance in the aroma - lots of vanilla, caramel, and oak to offset the grapefruit and pine. Medium to full-bodied. Starts with some vanilla extract and caramel in the flavor. A biscuity, oakiness follows. Finishes with some drying, spicy grapefruitiness. Warming alcohol is apparent throughout. radagast83 (1315), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Like the regular Un*Earthly, this beer pours a dark golden amber color with a small to medium white head. Aroma is heavy on the hops. Citrus, hint of malt, oak and vanilla. Alcohol is relatively well hidden for what its ABV is. Edges out regular Un*Earthly, but it’s not as big a slam dunk as I had expected, but if I had a choice every time, I’d get this one. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA

Pours a clear dark goldcolor, with a medium white head. huge oak aromas arise right away, with some hops and grain also noticeable, but very oaky as expected. The flavor was also one of the oakiest beers Ive ever had. Almost a bit too much for me actually. Regular Un-earthly is a wonderful brew, and the oak really drowned out alot of its more appealing characters. It thinned the hops out way too much and left an unusal bready aftertaste. i hadhigh hopes for his one, but in the end it just seemed a bit too much for me. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2009 Golden color with a floral/citra hoppy aroma. Flavor has some light oak and sweetness, but the citrusy-sweet hops are too far faded and in the background. OK, but not the most impressive Southern Tier brew I’ve sampled.
