Amber color with a moderate creamy looking, light beige head. I seem to be smelling a grapefruit grilled on a cedar plank. There are some floral components and also a bit of honey. Interesting aroma, but not one that I am overwhelmed with. Light sweet start, with caramel, honey and pale malt. The honey seems to carry all the way through. Middle is citric and lightly acidic. Finish is surprisingly dry and with a hint of pine and oak. I find this much more refined than I found the "regular" UnEarthly. I keep picking up some berry qualities. Generally the darker berries, such and blueberries and blackberries. I kind of like the way this has mellowed with the oak.

Had this in a fluted glass as the bottle said to. Very nice fresh aroma wafting out of it. Basically fresh hops, pine-style. Look is yellow-orange, minimal head, very nice lacing. Oily palate, a bit hoppy right at the start and it ends more hoppy. Though it isn’t overwhelming. The oak mellows it a bit, but it’s presence is subtle. Nice.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. The look is clear, orange in color, and has a small white head. The smell is alcohol, malts, caramel, hops, fuel, citrus, and florals. The taste is wood, citrus, florals, some bitterness, caramel, hops, and malts.

Pours a light amber color, with decent head that slowly disappears. Smells very strongly of citrus, mainly of grapefruit.. There a some toffee undertones as well. A bit overpowering palate at first but quickly transforms into quite a smooth one.

Pours a clear amber caramel with nice white head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is citrus- grapefruit and lemon with a grassy resinous backbone. Slight malt toffee sneaks in there as well. Flavor is bracingly bitter- almost attacking but subsides into a smooth malty sweetness. Oak aging is evident but not overpowering. Maybe a bit cloying. Palate is smooth with minimal carbonation, leaving a somewhat dry hoppy presence on the tongue. Flavorful, but not completely refined or balanced.

pours a solid amber color with a decent head. Aroma is quite citrusy, but with some sweet notes, somewhat like vanilla, probably from the aging. Sweetness from the oak aging continues to be prevalent in the taste, and combines with the heavy citrus flavor. Not my favorite DIPA, but I can certainly appreciate it. Palate is pretty sticky- well crafted brew overall.

Tasted 3/23/09. 22oz bomber. Filtered with a deep golden hue. Ring of off-white head. The nose holds a pleasant mix of abundant hops and an oaky, vanilla note. The vanilla and citrus really play off of each other. Medium to full bodied and similar to the original, but more sticky and cloying. The oak is overt and somewhat a deterent for me. Now, this beer is totally well crafted and has a wonderful palate, but it’s just not for me. My Chardonnay drinking friends loved it, as expected. Once again, the duality of candy vanilla and grapefruit citrus hops is really nice.

22oz bottle. Pours copper with a minimal white head. Lively carbonation. Aroma is of vanilla, hops, citrus, and caramel. Taste is lots of vanilla and oak up front. The hops are extremely subdued. There are very minimal notes of hops, grapefruit, caramel, and spice. Mouthfeel is thick and sticky. The oak aging killed most of the typical IPA characters. The end result is very woody, but also very bland. A huge dissapointment.
