Commercial Description:
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

Bottle courtesy of sebletitje. Pours black with a thin tan yellow head. Aroma is roasted malt, phenol, chocolate, some oat, rye, and cream notes. Flavor is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, candy sugar, sweet cream, coffee. Generally medium to full body with a pleasing oat-coffee finish.

Pretty Nice Oat Stout. A tad 1 dimensional though. The usual, chocolate, coffee, malt, etc.. I did like it ,but given the competition, it is a good beer among many. I did drink it all however, so it must have have something going for it.

Pours very dark, mocha head. Nose is dark fruits and mild roast. Taste- low roast, plum/prunes, molasses. Finish is very cardboardy, seems as if father time has not been kind as oxidation has settled in. Mouthfeel is thick with the oats leading the way and boozy heat. Drinkability suffers considerable from the booze and oxidized taste. Too had as I had higher expectations.

Bottled sample via ,and sampled with, oakbluff. Black in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas of stewed fruit, roasted malts, and booze. A surprising amount of fruit and oxidized flavors, along with some chocolate and coffee notes. Fairly heavy boded. This bottle was a year old, but you would think that a beer this strong would hold up better than this. Not nearly as good as the Chocolat or Jaha va, but still better than the Creme Brule.

Tak til Sune for denne øl. Farven er sort med et lille beige skum. Der er noget portvin og noget vinøst over den. Choko, stærk kaffe, kakao og mørke frugter i både duft og smag. Fyldig og lækker, ikke særlig humlet. Dejlig.....

Lots of coffee in the nose. Intense aroma. Bitter finish. Wow. A surprise. I expected something good, but this is one of those Southern Tier moments when the beer exceeds expectations. Very nice, dark, rich stout. Sweetness mixed in there. Thick. If it was on the menu at Alinea it would say: Dark. Coffee. Thick.
