Dark black coffee complexion with a milk chocolate head. Slight coffee aroma. Taste begins with deep espresso, slightly alcoholic and finishes smoothly into notes of chocolate. Full bodied, but incredibly smooth and easy to drink. Overall a really nice experience. BMan1113VR (2940), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA

Inky Pour with a medium brown, fluffy head, and a completely black body. Some lacing but more alcohol legs above that. Aroma of alcohol, flowers, chocolate, a decent amount of espresso, peanut shells, smoke and oatmeal. Taste is lots of chocolate, the coffee, then an astrigency, then peanutshells. Alcohol is increadably well hidden. Taste is a bit smokey. Very smooth mouthfeel, that is a bit silky with hardly any carbonation. Very good but no chocoklat.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 6, 2008 [Bottle] Pours a viscous black with a small tan head that diminishes to a small ring around the glass. Aroma is coffee, roasted barley, oats, and bittersweet chocolate. Very rich mouthfeel. Bitter. Alcohol is not terribly evident. Quite chocolatey, with a bit of coffee in there too. Fairly smooth a la the oatmeal. JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 5, 2008 22oz bottle - Very dark black color, fairly clear, small quickly dissipating light brown head. Aroma is fairly chocolaty, light roasted notes, some vanilla bean, touch of licorice. Flavor has fair amount of roastyness, slightly metallic hops, light caramel and vanilla, with a somewhat harsh bitterness. This was pretty decent, but not quite up to it’s score on ratebeer, IMO. It may improve with a year or so of age, maybe take the harshness off of the bitterness. HomeBrewHawk (282), De Soto, Kansas, USA

Roasted malts with some fruit and a little alcohol. Full bodied. Deep roasted malt flavor. Not a lot of hop bitterness, but roasted malt bitterness. Long dry finish of chocolate malt. I’m going to put my other bottle away for a while. This seems like it might need a little time. MrRain (435), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2008 22oz bottle poured into a tulip glass. STO pours black with a thin brown head. It leaves little lacing. The aroma is very subtle and pleasant, consisting mostly of roasted grains and a touch of fruit. This is a very drinkable beer but not very noteworthy. The body is a bit thin for an Imp. Stout. The flavor is nice but not something I’ll remember. Again, this is a good beer but not anywhere close to the caliber of Dark Lord or Alesmith. Aroma – Dark roasty malts with a great hint of oats and hops.
Appearance – Black in color, clear, with a thin head.
Flavor – Great dark malt flavors with a good use of hops and spices in the flavor. The oats and the hops added to the strong flavor.
Palate – Great Mouthfeel, Roasty texture with a dry finish.
Overall – One huge beer this was a beer to end all beers for the day. Had flavor for 3 more beers. This was one hell of a great strong Impy Stout.

Thick mouthfeel, creamy. Nice aroma of coffee and chocolate. The flavor really is of chocolate and it is thick. A very good Imperial Stout...although I think I like their Java more.
