Commercial Description:
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

Bottle sampled with Mad_Indian. pours black with a large beige head. Aroma of chocolate malts, coffee, and hops. The flavor is sweet chocolate, coffee, dark chocolate, finishes bitter. Good body and mouthfeel. Exceptional brew.

Bomber->snifter: Pours an average dark brown head that exhibits fair lacing on top of a black body. Aroma of molasses and straw, hops of perfume, and perhaps some chocolate and a tinge of bubble gum in there as well. The body is full, the texture is thick, and the carbo. is flat. The flavor’s duration is long, being lightly sweet and bitter. A truly fine beer--I would be hard pressed to not drink several of these in a row.

Pour is black with a super thin brown head...smell is sweet and roasty with lots of chocolate....taste is sweet and roasty with lots of nice roasty flavors (burnt toast, coffee, cocoa)...stays mediumly sweet with chocolate all the way through with subtle coffee bitterness comin in through the end...obviously a nice mouthfeel...not bad overall, and quite drinkable...

Ebony colored body with a thin cocoa head, this beer brings it!!! Toasted grain, nuts, and more bitter chocolate than I would have expected. Very full flavored but its most distinguishable quality has to be mouthfeel. This one is thick, sticking like peanut butter to your tongue and roof of your mouth. Glad I had an opportunity to try.

A great imperial stout, obviously strong but flavorful aswell. Pours extremely dark with some head. Despite its high ABV it is easily drinkable for a stout.

Black body, a very thin light brown head, no carbonation. Seemed a little dull. Aroma was rich with leather notes and some roasted dark malts and alcohol. Flavor had a strong alcohol presence with some nice cocoa notes. A seemed a little tin on the palate compared to other imperial stouts it was stil good, and very drinkable.

22oz - Brewed Fall 2007 - Aroma of roasted dark malts, vanilla, soy sauce, oats, chocolate and alcohol. Pours black with a brown ring head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma with stronger roasted malts and a touch of hop bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Palate is sticky and dry. Tasty and very drinkable for 11% and the amount of flavor.

bomber from a trade with hogtownharry. pours black with a small tan head that is quickly gone. aromas are hop, chocolate, barley but are somewhat subdued. if the aromas were bigger theyd be a 10. flavour is awesome. perfect imppy stout flavour balance. im really diggin the hop profile on this one. loses one point in palate for noticable alcohol but its not that noticeable and at 11% ABV you kinda expect it to make an appearance. overall a wonderful stout!
