Commercial Description:
“brewed for the harvest” This beer begins in spring when oat seeds are sown as soon as the soil can be worked. Meanwhile, select types of barley are planted with hopes that Mother Nature will be kind. Our brewers wait patiently until the legumes are mature and ready for the scythe. Upon delivery to the brewery, these ingredients are mixed together in the mash tun where they steep, creating a rich molasses-like liquid. Spicy hops are boiled with the thick brew, giving balance and complexity. Brewers yeast feasts upon the rich sugars, concluding its transformation into oatmeal stout. Pour Oat into a snifter, allow its thick tan head to slowly rise, releasing unbridled aromas. The color of Oat is as dark as a moonless night. The first sip reveals Oat’s thick and nourishing taste. Like a haversack to a horse, a bottle of this stout is a meal in itself. Enjoy responsibly. 11.0% abv • 238º L

22 ounce bottle. Pours black with a dark brown head. The aroma is malt with a strong alcohol finish, The taste is malt, chocolate and coffee. There is also some molasses and the oat taste is definitely there. There is surprisingly little alcohol taste for how much there was in the smell. Very good beer would buy again

After Southern Tier Choklat, Iwas stoked about trying this one, but found it underwhelming. Nice palate, full body, but boring flavor and aroma.

Thanks to July Santa for this great bottle. Dark pour with mocha head. Aroma of licorice, oatmeal, coffee and soft hops. Full bodied with flavors of chocolate, vanilla, oats and some sugary sweetness. Really enjoyed. Thanks Santa!

bomber. Pours black with a brown head which dissipated quickly. nose was of licorice, coffee and alcohol. Taste was sweet chocolate, oat and molasses. Mouthfeel was medium-to-thick with alcohol noticeable. Very good, although I liked their Jah-va better.

After my rather disappointing stout experience last night, I thought I’d give it another shot with a different beer. Poured black with a light brown head. Rich aromas of dark chocolate, bourbon, dark fruits, apple skins, and brown sugar. Flavor is rather sweet with some notes of caramel, brown sugar, some fruitiness with apple, pear, some light coffee, and some peppery alcohol. Finish is more toward the sweet side with leftover notes of coffee and fruit. Body is fairly chewy. Overall a great stout experience, and my enthusiasm for the style is pretty much revived.
