Commercial Description:
With the onset of winter, the brewer’s mind turns to providing warmth. For our winter seasonal, Southern Tier offers Old Man Winter Ale, a rich and complex amalgam of hops and barley that will put the feeling back in your toes and lift your spirits above the snow. Old Man Winter throws a deep and inviting hue with a thickness that clings to the glass and the warmth of an open flame. Because of its high alcohol content, Old Man Winter is a heady brew that encourages sipping and pondering its essential richness. Drink it fresh now, or cellar some bottles to see how this old man becomes wiser with age.

Clear light mahogany pour under a light stone khaki head. Aroma of lemon zest, toffee and light coffee. Tastes like a comination of an IPA and am American Strong Ale with plenty of grapefruity hops, roasted malt, vanilla, caramel and milk chocolate. Sweet and mildly bitter finish with some alcohol presence - especially as the brew warm a bit.

Pours a clear amber color with an off white head. Aroma is of citrus hops, earth spices, corriander, and some caramel. Flavor starts off with the corriander and spices that give way to the citrus hops. Decent bitter finish that lingers. Pretty delicious brew.

12oz bottle. Poured clear brown/copper with a medium head. Left medium lacing as it slowly dissipated. Aroma of American hops and caramel malts. Just a little sweet fruits. Medium-heavy body. Very balanced. A little alcohol in the finish. I might get a sixer before it’s gone.

Clear sparkling brown, creamy lightly tanned head. Nose held soft notes of grapefruit, toasted caramel, and touches of chocolate. Well balanced flavors of the above throughout. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, light bittersweet finish. Tasty winter brew...

bottle- pours quite dark, brown, hints of red, and gold. a soapy head, smells malts, and some piny citrusy hops. quite sweet like sugar or caramel. fruity, some hops in the background there. not as carbonated as the last few beers. very nice.
