Bottle: Deep brown pour with a smaller beige head. Smells of roasted malt, coffee, and some light bittersweet notes. Flavor is more roasty, tobacco, smoke, and some bittersweet coffee grounds. Thanks BuckeyeBoy.

Oct 9, 2008 12 ounce bottle in pint glass warm. Black with lasting ring. Chocolate covered dark fruit aroma. Medium dark chocolate with mild roast and meium fruit with mild underlying and finishing bitterness. Medium body and carbo. Pretty much medium all around. Excellent mouthfeel, maybe because it’s warm. Sessionable.

Sep 28, 2008 12oz bottle via trade with Shadey. Pours a deep dark brown with a minimal light tan ring for a head. Nice nose of toasted malts, coffee, and some chocolate. Finish was light to medium in body, a great porter.

Sep 27, 2008 Oops, this rating is out of order by a few. No big deal. Black, decent head. Aroma of light coffee and a bit of chocolate. Flavor matches, with the pleasant addition of faintly piney and floral hops on the finish. Nice.

Sep 22, 2008 12 oz. bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville. Dark chocolate brown color with a thin but persistent head. Chocolately roasted malt aroma. Taste is roasted malts and coffee with a lactic-type sweetness. A little bit of a thin finish.

Sep 20, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep reddish-black, with a moderate tan head. Strong aroma of coffee and sweet malts. The flavor is similar, with most of the bitterness coming from coffee, rather than hops. Nothing too remarkable, but a fine porter nonetheless.
