Commercial Description:
Don't let Tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, we introduce freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, we add the best hops shipped directly for Europe. Third, our special yeast is the catalyst for fermentation, gobbling sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it triple to denoted its high alcohol content. Still others believe triple's origins lay in its triple fermentation; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, ours is the Tripel threat.

Bottle from a 12 pack sampler. Bright gold body with a slightly off white head. The aroma is like banana nut muffins with some earthy mushrooms behind it. Musky and leathery, this has some cake donut character. There is also a strong note of clove type spice in the finish. Overall, this is fairly thin and a little on the sweet side. Decent, but nothing special.

Bottle. Golden body, white head, sweet nose with alcohol notes. Not much in the way of esters or spices, alcoholic, sweet, not a very good example of the style.

Pours out straw/gold with small white head. Aroma of sweet spice and slight citrus. Taste is sweet fruits, citrus, yeast, slight alcohol and some dryness on the finish.

Yellow gold with mild head formation. Aroma of sweet fruits mostly oranges and peaches. Flavor reminds me of a barleywine; a fruity sweetness along with some hops and an alcohol burn.

22 oz. bomber. Smells more American than Belgian. Sweet. Some orange in the nose. Hazy gold. Small, white head. Some lace. Very little visible carbonation. This beer is a treat. Sweet, with honey and orange peel. A nice moderate hop finish. A delicious and enjoyable beer. Perhaps not 100% to style, but nevertheless grossly underrated.

22 oz bottle, cellared 18 months. Foggy cream soda with light white froth. Nose of sweet apple-peach and orange peel with light butterscotch. Sharp carb; buttery then dry and resiny. Taste begins with lemon candies; dried apricots then quinine and pine oil. Lingering alcohol. Grew on me but finish a bit harsh.

Bomber courtesy/shared with ’Naka. Pours a hazy orange color with amber hues. Nose of malt and spice, with a touch of citrus and floral notes. Decently medium-bodied, spices dominate, Very dry finish, with a touch of bitterness. It really doesn’t have the big malt profile that I’ve seen in other tripels. Not a bad beer, but not necessarily a tripel in any sense of the word.

22 oz. bottle my mother-in-law picked up from the brewery - Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a half finger thick white head. The head was a little small compared to previous Tripels I’ve poured in the past. Oh well, maybe it’s the way I poured it. Anyways it faded pretty quick leaving faint spotty lacing. Aroma is sweet malt and hops. Flavor is malty, but a little more bitter than I expected. No yeast or heavy esters in this one. Has an odd lingering taste on the palate. Medium body. This beer doen’t quite strike me as a Tripel. I’m no expert by any means, but it’s not like the others I tried. Still, worth a try.
