Commercial Description:
Don't let Tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, we introduce freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, we add the best hops shipped directly for Europe. Third, our special yeast is the catalyst for fermentation, gobbling sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it triple to denoted its high alcohol content. Still others believe triple's origins lay in its triple fermentation; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, ours is the Tripel threat.

Hazy, straw colored, with a smallish white head. Nose is sweet, with some grassy hop notes, some honey, and a bit of citric hop aroma that seems out of place. Way too bitter for the style. Rather musty, with some grass and earth notes in there, as well as some very faint hints of orange. Not very sweet. Very much off-style, but a decent beer nonetheless

bottle poured a wheat golden in color with light carbination that when poured briskly barely made a half finger head that melted to a thick covering on the surface. smell is candy sugar, spice, banana, and some caramel malt. taste is medium light on mouth feel, has a malt middle, and finishes with bitter on the sides of the tongue. more of the hops are noticeable as it sat for a few minutes and i think are responsible for the bitter finish. not what i am used to in a tripel, missing the yeast characteristic, and the hops are definitely out for the style. the 9% is nowhere to be tasted and i will say it warmed on me more as i drank it.

pours dark yellowish with a white head. aroma is sweet, with banana, candy, malt, alcohol, and pine. taste is alcohol, banana, pine, floral. smooth feel, nice carbonation, bitter finish. i agree with the others, it’s a good beer but not a good tripel. not complex/potent enough. and the alcohol is a bit strong. nonetheless, give it a whirl!

Slight sweet aroma, with just a touch of banana and bubblegum. Pours a deep amber in color, with a much smaller head then exxpected which quickly fades to a tight cap. Lively carbonation is visible, but no sediment can be seen. The taste seems to have something off about it for the style. If I had to make a guess, I’d say it’s the citrus hops which seem to be out of place. It starts with a slight candylike taste, which goes to citrus, and then has a moderate bitter finish. Not a bad beer, but not what I was expecting from a Tripel.

22oz. Bottle: Medium sweet aroma. Smells of hops, yeast, and a little bubblegum. Poured yellow in color, like dark urine, with a small, off-white head that diminished. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Medium sweet flavor. Tastes of bubblegum and yeast with a bit of floral, citrus hops. Medium body. Thinish creamy texture. Average carbonation. Overly sweet bubblegum finish. Overall, not a Tripel, and not very interesting.

This was a tripel? Call me Susan, if we were playing guessing games I’d call this an IPA, and a descent one at that, just doesn’t seem to be the style as claimed; don’t get me wrong, like a bad your mamma joke, i’d still take advantage like the dean’s daughter.

More hops than any tripel that I have tried! I love hops---but this brew didn’t seem true to style. Still, I enjoyed it!

Pours clear golden with a medium dissipating white head. Looks pretty meh. Aroma seems very spiced, yet too clean for a Belgian. Some alcohol on the nose, coriander pepper, maybe some honey and cheap white wine (without the sweetness). There’s something really dusty or chalky smelling on the nose too. Tastes, of honey, grass, wheat, pepper, coriander and slightly soured grapes. Boozy. Finishes slightly dry and bitter, with a lingering pepper flavor. I liked the mouthfeel at first, but as it warms the beer feels way too light and empty. I’m surprised this is 9%, as it doesn’t seem like it should be above 7 for what it is. Not an offensive beer, but really weak for the style.
