Commercial Description:
Don't let Tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, we introduce freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, we add the best hops shipped directly for Europe. Third, our special yeast is the catalyst for fermentation, gobbling sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it triple to denoted its high alcohol content. Still others believe triple's origins lay in its triple fermentation; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, ours is the Tripel threat.

Rated 5/4/07: Good beer, borderline decent Tripel. Tantalizing thick golden yellow pour with a mild white head and lackluster lacing. Slightly yeasty scent with a moderate hoppy aroma and mild spiciness. Thick mouthfeel, balanced, and drinkable. Alcohol is very well masked. The flavor bites much more than the mild aroma would indicate. I feel this coming across as a lightly watered down version of a nice Belgian as the flavors are rather subdued and uneventful. Americanized by a solid hop presence producing light citrus and evergreen flavors. It’s easily recognizeable to the style and overall is a solid drink, but it is lacking when compared to the better beers in this category.

This is an ok Abbey Triple. Malty, earthy, and fruit flavors. Finishes bitter chewy, and crisp.

It poured a cloudy gold with a white head from a bomber bottle. The first swallow had a slightly sweet, earthy taste with a light, bitter finish. It was light bodied and as refreshing as a summer beer. The high ABV wasn’t noticeable. subsequent swallows did not change my first impression.

On tap at Bites & Brews in Shadyside, Pittsburgh. Clear gold, white head. Aroma is grass, dried fruit and malt. Flavor is the same with this not very pleasant plastic like taste.

Doughy malt aroma. Golden color with a finger of white foam. Light caramel taste with a smooth finish. Palate is very creamy. Alcohol not noticable.

Pours orange with a small white head. Very nice aroma of spice, malt and some floral tones. A very crisp Tripel with a nice balance to go along with the sweetness. All by itself, this is a solid effort, but it really pales in comparision to other Tripels out there. There isn’t much in the way of complexity. Something is lacking.

Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is of slight lemon and citrus, candi sugar, corriander, and some slight floral hops. Very thick on the palate with strong candi sugar up front that give way to the lemon and corriander. Finishes dry with a slight alcohol warming. Not too bad but a little too much sweetness up front for me.

12oz. bottle. A hazy gold color with a lot of fruit in the scent. The taste was sweet and well spiced but a little heavy. Not the best tripel but still OK
