Commercial Description:
Don't let Tripel's light color and delicate aroma fool you, this is one serious beer brewed with maximum effort. First, we introduce freshest barley to crystal filtered water. Second, we add the best hops shipped directly for Europe. Third, our special yeast is the catalyst for fermentation, gobbling sugar and creating alcohol as it works. Some say that the Belgian monks who first brewed this style called it triple to denoted its high alcohol content. Still others believe triple's origins lay in its triple fermentation; twice in the brewery and once in the bottle. Whatever the answer, ours is the Tripel threat.

Poured a dark copper coor with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus fruits, light caramel malts, cardamom spices, and some bubblegum. Taste was sweet, some candy sugar, light spices, some citrus fruits, and light alcohol as well.

66th percentile? This one has a lemony zest with a nice tingly mouthfeel and a floating floral aroma. I don’t detect the 9% alcohol at all. The aftertaste has some hoppy bitterness to it with a grassiness inherent in it. For a tripel it doesn’t seem like this has much of a kick but its very well balanced. I know I like it when I want it again. I also know I want to go back to Shangys.

Poured a clear gold with a small quickly disapearing head.. The aroma was sweet, yeasty and fruity with clove, banana and tangerine. The flavor was sweet and sugary. Tasted like artificial sweetner on the finish. Light bitter and clovey finish. Warming. Medium bodied.

Strong nose of yeast amd earth. Hazy amber body, almost no head. Well surprise on the taste. Sweet citrus start, earth malty finish. I am not a belgiun fan, but this was good.

Plenty of tannins, orange peel and a light spiciness in the malty caramel and toffee heavy aroma. Opaque tan body is topped by a decent though fizzy, white head that recedes to a thin cover. Tannins are rich in the surprisingly sweet flavour along with orange citrus character and a light chalkiness. Bitterness is but an afterthought and is quickly enveloped by the lasting sweet after taste. Alcohol is never apparent. Medium body with moderate carbonation that is lively on the tongue and cheeks. Chalice. Cellar temperature. Bottle (trade, Mar-05). Thanks, DocLock!
