Lots of dark roasted barley taste. I even detect some noble hops. It’s drinkable but I certainly wont buy it again. bellmyer (41), EAST MOLINE, Illinois, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 28, 2008 650ml. Pour is a cloudy gold with a small white head that recedes quickly. Nose is light with citrus fruit and yeast. Taste is spicy with malt backing and a decent alcohol warming. Way too sweet. Lots of sugar that made it very hard to drink the whole thing. Not a very good brew. AmEricanbrew (1946), orange, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 19, 2008 Clear amber with a fleeting head. Earthy black tea leaf aroma. Medium body and smooth. Decent enough flavor is pale and caramel malt, its not really dry or sweet. Has some dry spices to finish. Typical of most American jabs at this style, which is too much spice, and not the right yeast or fruit flavors. robforbes (1105), Bremerton, Washington, USA

smell is faint, some sweet fruits, grain.
taste is thin, pear, peach, slight orange, barley, and hops, ends on the dry side, becomes a little more bitter as time passes. Hophead22 (1105), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA

Somewhat sweet buterscotch aroma. Sweet buttery flavor as well, not too great. HonkeyBra (1370), Lemont, Illinois, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Nov 19, 2008 Pretty lame for a tripel. Or a beer in general. A lot of alcohol in the nose, and a lot more in the taste with no real impressive fruit flavors. Wont buy again. after4ever (2825), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Nov 17, 2008 Draft at The Stumbling Monk. Pours slightly hazy medium gold with a dense and persistent creamy tan head. Bone dry; some old hay and some biscuit comprise the bulk of the nose. Medium body, a bit of carb, but not a lot. Ultra dry--biscuit, hay, slightly dusty mid-palate with a mild finish.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 1, 2008 Pours a hazy orange with a decent, though dissipating head.Aroma is nice. Far more American ale than Belgian tripel, but a great balance of hops and light malts, citrus fruits, yeast and alcohol. Fermented fruits are at the forefront of the flavor, and I hate to say it, but this one is a victim of its ABV. The alcohol is prominent enough that it detracts from the flavor, which offers sweet citrus (satsumas?) and a bit of green bell pepper. Fairly disappointing.
