Commercial Description:
This pale ale is medium-bodied with a golden amber color. It has a very pleasant hop character that integrates nicely with its smooth malt flavors.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

12oz bottle(10/07)-A medium golden with a small white head and an aroma of hops, citrus, and grapefruit. Taste of hops with a funky beginning that lingers throughout the mouthful. Not bad but not good.

Muddy gold with good, foamy white head / Citrus nose / Medium, fat body, low carbonation, with decent finish / Full, malty, creamy flavors of grapefruit and lemon with hops on the finish / Not my favorite style of pale ale, but a good beer nonetheless.

Six pack, found at Publix here in Jax, FL. I was wondering earlier in the day if this beer would be in my future, and after seeing a sixer in the supermarket, I decided to treat myself to this instead of some other shitty beer. Pours a gold-amber color color with a slight head. Aroma is light and citrus. Taste is hops and a bit of sweetness on the end. Very nice.

12 oz. bottle, freshness date in the lower right hand corner of the label, sampled in a pint glass. Slightly hazy appearance, orange hued yellowish golden in color, robust head of frothy white foam, good retention, fair amount of sticky lace. A quite balanced and flavorful nose, the hops start out as a candied orange blossoms before turning spicy with woody herbs in the background. Underneath is a light sweet maltiness, mainly caramelized grains. Ample carbonation, but far from fizzy, provides an airy, soft feeling creaminess in the mouth. The hops are in the forefront of the taste, sweet oranges and candied peel, then becoming a mildly bitter herbal spicy, just enough spicy bitterness to softly prick the tongue. The caramel malts are in a supporting role, adding some sweetness in the beginning to hop flavors, finishing with an raw graininess. Better than what I was expecting, an highly quaffable APA at a budget minded price, well worth trying.

Noy much aroma but can tell it is a pale ale. Dark golden color with lots of floaters. Small head that disappeared quickly but left some lacing. Suprised by this. Quite drinkable. Strong hop flavor that is very nice but not over powering. The malt backbone is a bit thin but for some reason it doesn’t bother me. I would buy it again.

From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at "Liquor Direct" across the river in Covington, Kentucky - This one pours a bright golden brew with a distinctly hoppy aroma and a rapidly dimishing tall head of white foam. Tastewise, it’s a fine IPA, but lacking a bit of balance.

Liked tha appearance of this a lot. Orange hue with lots of grains floating in it. Nice crisp palate with a fruity front end and healthy hop aftertaste. Very good.

Bottled. Pours a dull orange with a fluffy white head. Aroma is citrus hops leaning toward more sweet and fruit than bitter with medium intensity. I also pick up a hint of toasted bread. Flavor is a watery malt with some sweet citrus notes. The toasted bread flavor is more prominent than the hops. Slilghtly hoppy finish with a below average body.
