Commercial Description:
This pale ale is medium-bodied with a golden amber color. It has a very pleasant hop character that integrates nicely with its smooth malt flavors.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

The 12 ounce bottle poured a slightly hazy orange-amber beverage with a modest sized frothy white head that was mostly diminishing and left good lacing on the glass. The aroma exhibited primarily a floral hop character with subtle sweet undertones of malt in the form of dough or bread. The body was medium-light with average carbonation and a slightly watery texture. The flavor starts out briefly sweet and then turns somewhat sharply bitter. It stayed that way through the medium-length finish.

The head fades fast, and there is a nice floral aroma. This well-crafted brew is full and mellow, but still rich and hoppy, with hints of grapefruit. The finish is dry and fizzy. I could easily drink more than one of these.

Pours golden amber with a medium head. Notes of hops right from the start roll into a bitter hops with light citrus on the palate. Long finish with heavy bitterness.

bottle poured into lager glass. Right there in the middle of the pack for American macro-micro- pale ales.

Hazed yellow brown with an average white head, looks flavorful. Relatively sweet malt over relatively floral hops, giving a fruity to strawberry nose. Balanced, a little sweet for the style, but nice. About average body. Average carbonation, perhaps a little fizzy. Fruity sweet malt over floral hops. Lends a nice bitterness. the malt is kind of big too, which isn’t bad. A little acidity, along with a thin bit of toast. strawberry hops in the dry finish.

Bottle.
Pours a nice, deep cheddar orange with an aroma of stale hops and moldy malt. Weak grapefruit that crossdresses as an orange on the tongue, leaving a thin, watery mouthfeel. Very avoidable.
