Commercial Description:
This pale ale is medium-bodied with a golden amber color. It has a very pleasant hop character that integrates nicely with its smooth malt flavors.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

ACBeerfest-12oz bottle-pours a foamy off white head and yellow/gold color. Aroma is cascade hops, perfumy. Taste is cascade hops-bitterness, perfumy, secondary medium malt-some sweetness. Dry, clean mouth feel. OK/mild carbonation.

Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of caramel and pepper. Tastes lightly hoppy and sweet with a tea like finish.

Golden color with a beige colored, (the color of certain business cards) somewhat fluffy head. Big citrus aroma, not the grapefruity type, more a orange blossom scent. Hints of pale malt and light brown sugar. A respectable smelling APA, although the scent does die out rather quickly. Unfortunately the flavors seem to pick up were the died down scent leave off. LIght lemon zest and pale malt highlight the flavors finish and linger are very dry and only a mild bitterness remains. Decent start leads to a big yawn.

Bottle sample at Keg Liqour Fest of Ale. Poured clear copper with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture. Medium bitter flavor with a medium smooth bitter finish of moderate duration.

Pours coppery with deep gold edges. Nose is lemongrassy hops, tropical fruit, malt and peppery notes. Tastes hoppy with tropical fruit hints, floral notes, and a dry finish.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow to light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Like any of a hundred other American pale ales, but it’s not bad for being run of the mill.

Aromas of lightly roasted malt and citrus/floral hop. Slightly hazy golden amber color with a decent white head. Medium body with crisp carbonation. The flavor is interesting malt, kind of roasted, and floral hop. This is a bit sweet, but the hop takes care of that. The finish goes the same way. It’s a really pleasant drink. Not a NW IPA wannabee, but a good APA. Worth drinking again and again.
