Commercial Description:
This pale ale is medium-bodied with a golden amber color. It has a very pleasant hop character that integrates nicely with its smooth malt flavors.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Liked tha appearance of this a lot. Orange hue with lots of grains floating in it. Nice crisp palate with a fruity front end and healthy hop aftertaste. Very good.

A nice APA. Pretty much what you’d expect in a solid APA, good hop character but not as much as IPAs. Good consistency and best Spanish Peaks I’ve had.

Nice crystal clear pour of deep gold and copper hues. The half inch off white head lasted a couple of minutes. The aroma is tart sharp (spiny) grapefruit hops. I think I smell a faint sweetness way behind the hops. The taste is no surprise after what the aroma has brought forth. There is a big handful of grapefruit hop bitterness that has a strangle hold on the flavor. About midway there is a moment of sweeter grapefruit hop flavor and then pale malt sweetness. Nice tasting Pale.

very pleasant beer; poured very well from the tap. Almost a sweet aroma with a dark brown appearance. Sits smoothly on the palate and equally as smooth going down. Not too strong of a flavor and goes well with any kind of meal. I would recommend especially when dining.

From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at "Liquor Direct" across the river in Covington, Kentucky - This one pours a bright golden brew with a distinctly hoppy aroma and a rapidly dimishing tall head of white foam. Tastewise, it’s a fine IPA, but lacking a bit of balance.

Pours copper with a thin white head. Smells of caramel and pepper. Tastes lightly hoppy and sweet with a tea like finish.

12 oz. bottle, freshness date in the lower right hand corner of the label, sampled in a pint glass. Slightly hazy appearance, orange hued yellowish golden in color, robust head of frothy white foam, good retention, fair amount of sticky lace. A quite balanced and flavorful nose, the hops start out as a candied orange blossoms before turning spicy with woody herbs in the background. Underneath is a light sweet maltiness, mainly caramelized grains. Ample carbonation, but far from fizzy, provides an airy, soft feeling creaminess in the mouth. The hops are in the forefront of the taste, sweet oranges and candied peel, then becoming a mildly bitter herbal spicy, just enough spicy bitterness to softly prick the tongue. The caramel malts are in a supporting role, adding some sweetness in the beginning to hop flavors, finishing with an raw graininess. Better than what I was expecting, an highly quaffable APA at a budget minded price, well worth trying.

12 oz bottle pours a straw color with a nice inch of fine white head. Aroma of a little malt and citrusy hops. Flavor is rather mild and well balanced. A little malt with a little hop bitterness to balance it out. A very nice easy to drink pale ale.
