Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Nice! Aroma is subdued, with minor malt charachter. Appearance is dark amber, with minor head. It’s flavor is a gorgeous malt, with maybe minimal chocolate. It’s palate feel is smooth. Very good.

12 oz bottle. The body is dark, cloudy amber. The aroma is minimal notes of hop. The taste is pretty good. Maybe some notes of yeast as well?

Clear dark amber body with a small off-white head. Sweet caramel and light roasted malt aroma. Sweet caramel and fruity hops. Slight tea-like hints. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

Pours amber red and transparent. Aroma is sugary and mildly earthy; sweetened black tea, dark honey, and toffee, with some wet, moldy mulch. Flavor is similarly a blend of grassy, mildewy hops and walnut-skin and cocoa nib malts; very mulchy and full of mineral and tea bitterness throughout. Palate is tinny and metallic with crisp carbonation and a limp body. Dry apple juice in the quick finish. Lazy, and uninspiring; inoffensive. Thanks Luke!

On tap at Tank’s Tap Room. Draft pours a dark amber with a slight tan head. Sweet aroma includes roasted malt and chocolate. OVerall flavor was okay but nothing stood out. Mild and smooth mouthfeel.

Reddish Amber pour. Decent taste nothing too overpowering but solid. Creamy taste in mouth that leaves a somewhat dry aftertaste. I wouldn’t buy again but don’t mind that I have 5 more to drink

Bottle: Amber pour with nice clarity and a light tan head. Aroma is of toasted malt, mild caramel sweetness and a grassy hop touch. Surprisingly decent texture; mildly carbonated and creamy. Soft malt flavor, semi-toasted with a metallic touch. Slight caramelized hints come through which is balanced by a grassy/metallic finish. Not as terrible as it could be. The finish just tasted copper-ish, like a penny. Oh well.
