Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Pours a dark clear amber colour with a small off white creamy head. Nose of citrus hops, nuts and toasted malts. Intial taste is light bodied with nuts and mild toasted malts. Finishing with bitter hops on the palate. Minor head retention and lacing of the glass.

A malty beer with some chocolate, toast, caramel and earthy hop notes. Good session ale.

Gorgeous deep amber pour with medium sudsy offwhite head, zero bubbles. Sour malt and hop aroma... like a stale keg. Bitter raisins with some hoppy finish. Palate is weak and unrefined.

a perfectly fine quaff but not overly memorable. I do recall this as being one of the earlier craft beers I’d ever seen. So, perhaps its formulation is a bit less bold than many of today’s beers simply because at the time it was fairly radical.

Aroma is malty. The appearance is a dark tan with a white/tan head. Flavor is malt and maybe some citrus. Pretty good.

Mild aroma of roasted malt and hop but it has cellar musty-like quality to it.Smokey earthy flavor that hits initially but seems to taper off and gets watery. Thin mouthfeel.

Pours nice amber color with a thick tawny head. Malty aroma. Smooth malty taste with a touch of hops on the tongue. Decent english style ale.

Pours a nice amber with fruty almost cherry aroma. It has a pleasing finish on the buds.
