Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

I was surprised by this, it’s not phenomenal but it was very drinkable. Very malt-oriented with some spicey notes and mildly hoppy. Dominant malt flavor with a small hop presence. A bit too watery of a body holds this back a bit.

I had a few samples of this taday at Lukas. Amber with no real head. Bicuit and earthy flavors and aromas. Farily thin palate. Very basic.

pours a reddish brass in color with a fairly nice ring in the glass and minimal carbination. smell is malts, plumbs, and some flowery hops. taste is malty with a little bitterness some flowery hops and some caramel. a decent beer overall and not to be compared to the raspberry, I feel it is a bit underrated here.

Thin frothy head of fine bubbles. Light carbonation. Deep crimson amber in color. Sweet and malty aroma with some vegetal notes and light hops presence. Soft and smooth mouthfeel. Little bitterness late swallow. Pretty dry. Little bit of caramel and some roasted grains. Finished dry and lightly bitter. An ok brew.

Bottle sampled. Pours amber with a decent off-white head. Aroma of caramel, citrus, and earthy hops. The flavor is sweet, caramel, and a light metallic bitter finish.

bought after a night out with nate and discovered in my fridge the next day... Been avoiding Spanish Peaks for awhile but why?, this actually very nice!.... Pours a dark copper colour (darker than honey rasp) and has a good lacing amount.... taste is very good, bitters are full but not over done, and the flavour profile is very pronounced and delicous... A satisfying beer that deserves a try!!!

Poured from bottle into a frosted glass at local rest. Poured a nice deep amber color, slight creamy head. I really like amber ales, so I enjoyed this. Taste was sweet malts, caramel and a slight hint of oranges. Very drinkable and enjoyable.
