Well balanced with a rise of bittering hops in the finish, the nose of theis beer tells of grape, apricot and toffee. Nice bready with a hint of sweetness adds a layer of complexity that might have been otherwise squashed had the brewer chosen a more aggressive hop profile. nicely done! | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 6, 2009 Pours a clear caramel brown with a creamy off-white head that leaves behind delicate lace. The nose is of dark bread with light supporting notes of molasses and earthy hops. Light to medium-bodied with a soft graininess and sharp but short astringency at the finish. The flavor profile is of toasted malt with earthy hops in support, finishing a tad too astringent for my tastes. This is a decent session brew.
