Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Desent beer. Better than the regular old macro crap. Thin head. Overall the after taste was good.

sweet malty aroma with a hint of hops. More of a dark golden color than an amber. No head. Mild malty beginning with a moderate hop bitterness in the finish. Slightly watery

Light brown with a filmy off-white head. Nice malty aroma with wood and earth notes. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. As with the aroma, this was very malty. Some caramel, very light chocolate. Hops are in there towards the finish but they are slightly muddled. Bitter finish. Stays together pretty well and even better when warmed. I thought it was tasty and had a nice, smooth palette.

Nice solid, easy-drinking amber. The right touch of bitterness to point at its British roots. Toffee and caramel where you’d expect them

3-16-07The aroma is the nicest aspect of this beer, has a decent head at start. Appearance is common amber color. Not nearly of the quality one expects from the aroma, flavor was disappointing. Thin body nothing really stands out on the palate. Overall it’s not something I’d be inclined to drink again. Rated a 2.2 Time for a Re-Rate 12-14-07 The aroma is a nice earthy hoppiness. Very flat lacking carbonation, suits the style, with little to no head. Mmmm the flavor was way improved this go arround. A very slight detection of malt, no sweetness, floral earthy notes with the hops dominating. Moderatly bittered. Mouth feel was okay. Overall I’d have another one of these. I find it very similar to Bass P.A.

(Rating #898)

creamy off-white , somewhat thick head with impressive lacing; appearance is light brown with a ruddy tinge; aroma of candy & caramel; heavy carbonation; light-body; a very bitter and clean hoppiness at first, which gives way to a nice balance with subtle malts; inconspicuous alcohol; overall, it’s a decent brew

Doughy aroma along with candyish toffee , caramel nose, astringent feel. Dark amber with some retention to the head. Very malty.
