I believe the English style explains the lack of bitter hops and high malt content. On a second try, I like the peppery spike this has to offer. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Piss-in-the-pines metallic aroma. Dry taste alternates between nutty and citrus finish. Has flavor, body, more hops and is overall a better beer than the tasteless pub ales found in England. Not sure which is typical of the style, but this one tastes better. Nice frosty morning lacing. moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Feb 4, 2007 I thought this beer to be very weak. The pour was medium to light brown with a thin tan head. Taste and aroma are both floral and earthy--not what I was expecting. Arayaga2 (970), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2007 Amber color with tan head. Nice sweet aroma with a hint of hops. Much more zesty flavor than I ever expected from this product. Very decent commodity beer. tronraner (1917), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 1, 2007 Bottle. Pours copper with ivory head. The aroma is tangerine, cedar, and a hint of cookie dough. The flavor is lemon and toast. There is a slight zesty hop bite at first, but by the finish it is warm and biscuity. Spicy aftertaste. Uninteresting, but good. michael-pollack (2692), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 30, 2007 12oz. Bottle: Malty aroma smells of caramel, spices, and a little hops. Medium sweet scent. Poured copper/amber in color with a small off-white head that diminished quickly. Ok lacing. Clear. Very sparkling. Flavor is malty with notes of caramel, hazelnut, and soap. Earthy. Starts medium sweet and finishes lightly bitter. Medium body. Slick. Lively carbonation. Finish is long, Earthy and slightly bitter. Tastes a little like Yuengling Lager, not like an English Pale Ale. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
