Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

12oz bottle pours a deep amber color with a slight offwhite head. Aroma is malty and sweet. Flavor is much the same. I’m didn’t get much hop flavor in this brew at all. On the palate this is medium bodied and drinkable but nothing that would make me buy it again.

Something adjuncty in the aroma. very much like Bud. River water brown color with a fast receding head. Minimal gas release. Nice malt flavor, but something tinny and cheap tasting in the aftertatse. Mouthfeel is correct ofr the style. Overall not horrible, but not really quite average either.

Nice initial hop aroma, which quickly disappeared, weak but distinct sweet malt taste, easy light brew.

Bottle. Orange-brown appearance. Malty and sweet. Sourness toward the finish. Slight hoppines. I kinda got bored halfways through.

english pint / primarily malty aroma, grainy, slight cheesiness. looks pretty. the head likes to linger, and diminish in a rocky manner ever so slowly. egh, the flavor ain’t much. weird. watery, malty but moreso nutty than sweet, a touch of hops. meh.

english pale ale? hmm. there doesn’t seem to be anything english, or pale, or anything else to this beer. thin, with a slight hops presence. according to the description, how do "pacific northwest hops" possibly make this an english pale ale? not that good. at least it’s not bad.
