Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Bottle 355ml , Appearance: clear dark brown with hint of ruby , large , presentable tanned crown. Light lacing. 4- Aroma: clean wet hoppy feel , twig , brown malt , cocoa , slightly mineral edges. Flavor/Palate: Medium light bodied . Brown malts with slight roast , bitter edgy feel , slightly metallic with dark roasted feel ending. Well spread but with out much depth.

sweet caramelly malts on the nose, with a little fruit notes. Pours a clear amber with no head. Very malty, caramel, hints of brown sugar, with mild hop flavors, grassy, traces of pine hiding in the background, very feint. A mild pale ale, a borderline session, if i had to choose between this and something in a green bottle i’d go for this.

Bottle. Pours a medium amber with a one finger cream head that leaves decent lacing. Nose is malt and floral hops. Taste is sweet caramel, ripe citrus and brown sugar with a mild bitter hop finish. Medium mouth feel. Not bad, but a little sweet.

An average EPA. Aroma was all caramel malt. Pour was a dark gold with a thin off white ring for a head. Taste was sweet and malty with a hint of grass and chocolate. Not much hops to speak of. Very wet and sticky aftertaste.

APPEARANCE: Beautiful clear amber, cream colored thick head. Nice lacing left behind. AROMA: floral, citrus hops, Grain FLAVOR: Sweet, sugary barley grain flavor first, followed closely by floral hops, leaving slight bitterness at the finish. PALATE: Good carbonation, but the beer is thinner than the color leads one to believe. Not watery but not really deep either. OVERALL: Easy drinking beer. Nothing offensive. Nice sweet flavors, although a bit grainy. Serving type: bottle

Bottle. Pours with a lightly off-white head and a clear amber body. Aroma is metallic with stale malts, caramel, and concord grapes. Taste is stale and fruity ending with a very strong metallic note. Fizzy.

Decent overall, with a light citrus and malt aroma. The taste isnt too bad, with smooth malt and a touch of raisin and fruit.
