Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Used to drink this a lot, but since I’ve tweaked my palate it isn’t as good to me now. It always had a good aroma, color, and fruity malty flavor, but I find it a little thin and bland, even for an EPA.

No head. Copper color. Very fizzy. Some hops there but not much. Cheap tasting.

12.20.02 bottle -recently discovered, ratty notes- brownish amber, some head. Aroma and flavor are a showcase of malts, ripe and fruity with an underlying roastiness. The twist of C-hops does not go unnoticed, but it’s not great.

almost perfect aroma nice hoppy presence with a hint of pine and malts. pured a near perfect amber color with a nice white head. So what happened on the aste initally it was as if i was drinking dial soap. No hops where present in the first few sips. When the hops did emegre it didn’t match the near perfect attributes of the beer.

Dark amber color. Nice head out of bottle. Looks good and tastes good. Nice flavor. Hoppy, malty, full bodied, nice gravity. Very drinkable English Pale Ale. Definitely better beer than a 2.99.

Poured amber with a frothy head that disappeared in seconds. Malty aroma with light scotch. Taste is lightly fruity and malty. A decent, refreshing beer.

Caramel and nutty malt. Medium brown body. Moderately sweet flavor becomes a lightly sweet, lightly bitter finish. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: wake me up when we’re finished.
