Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Pours copper with a white head. Smels earthy and tea like with some light peppery splashes. Tastes of earthy malt, tea, pepper. Hats off to the brewer for donating part of the sale to the Humane Society.

12oz bottle. Pretty bland amber malt and vanilla aroma. Deep orange filtered look to it. Nice chewy, malty mouthfeel, with a crisp hop balance. A quality session beer, with lots of malt character. Pleasant hoppy finish as well. Better than I remembered, very fresh.

Bottle pours a true clear amber with sustainable thin off-white head. Nose is floral with citric hop notes in the finish. Flavor leans toward a noble hop profile but with sufficient malt backbone to balance this brew. The label says ’amber’ but i agree with the sites placement into the ’pale ale’ category. Pretty good for that style.

Pours a dark brown/amber with a medium sized tan head that dissipates fairly quickly. Light lacing. Nose is malty and has notes of raisins. Taste is nice and complex with notes of malt, caramel, chocolate, raisins, hints of sweet fruit, and noticeable hoppiness. Mildly hoppy bitter/sweet finish lingering almost subliminal fruity notes. NOTE: Since there’s some ambiguity as to who’s currently brewing this stuff, the bottle I purchase says "Polson, Montana and Denver, Colorado" for whatever that’s worth.

(Bottle). Citrusy aroma, with some malt sweetness. Clear copper, small head. Flavor is tangy sweet, caramel, lots of carbonation. Refreshing, but not complex.
