Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

(Bottle). Citrusy aroma, with some malt sweetness. Clear copper, small head. Flavor is tangy sweet, caramel, lots of carbonation. Refreshing, but not complex.

Pours deep amber/mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head with excellent retention leaves sheet lacing as it slowly recedes. Dark caramel with a crisp body and a slightly sour finish.

This is ok, better than you might think it would be...but it isn’t worth drinking more than one IMO. Amberish color wtih a fairly small head. Aroma is typcially malty and grainy. Flavor has some sweet malt and grains wtih a tiny hop presence...too water and too predicatable.

Decenter than I expected. Been eyeing this one on the shelf cuz it’s one of the few I haven’t tried at the local grocery store. Not incredibly good, but drinkable with a nice hoppy finish.

12oz bottle(Brewed in Lacrosse, WI on label)-Pours a medium amber body with a small covering for a head. Aroma of malt, sweetness, and a little caramel. Taste of the same with caramel and malt in the middle but it finishes quite sweet with a little dryness. This light to medium bodied brew is not a bad English Pale Ale. Not my style but not bad.

Amber pour, fair slight off white head. Slight malt and floral scents. Many slight flavors, some spice, malt, caramel, but really not enough. Pretty clean finish. Kind of blah.

Pours a dark brown color... maybe molasses. Has A LOT of tan head. Aroma is malty (caramel), with a little hop in the nose. The tastes is hoppier than I expected, but it doesn’t completely overpower the sweet maltiness of the brew. 12 oz. bottle.

Bottle. Amber pour with a thick cream colored head. Aroma is slightly malty but mostly dominated by an earthy hop presence. Has a nice bitter flavor, more earthy hops, and a little caramel sweetness. Not bad, good session beer.
