Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Medium, almost muddy looking brown. Small white head with good lacing. Aroma malty and slightly fruity. Thin body. Flavor is initially citrus, followed by some sweet fruit and nice malts. Finishes a bit dry and hoppy. Nicely balanced, easy to drink and a bit too straight-forward. Pretty good overall.

Nice dark amber color with average head and fair amount of lacing. Nice citrus hop aroma with some herbal scent. Nice hop profile listed as 36 IBU on their website. Nice sweet rich malts balance the hops very well. Good sessionable English-style Amber Ale. Label says brewed in Polson, Montana. Website says also brewed in Colorado.

Bottle... Poured clear, dark amber with a white head. Aroma is watery with some malt and foam scents. Well carbonated, flavors are mild with just strong malt and a tiny but of hops towards the end. Ok to drink, bit I don’t think I would recommend this to anyone or have it again.

Bottle from Booze Bros. in Reno, NV. Poured a brown with a tan head. Not much aroma to it, but maybe a hint of carmel. Sweet malty flavor with a little bit of the hops hitting the palate towards the end.

Pours a reddish-mahogany color with a fairly thin light tan head that dissipates in a minute or so. The aroma is sweet, with caramel and malts predominating. While the flavor has a prominent roasted malt presence, I was surprised with the balance of hops. There is a hint of coffee also, which gives the brew a nice character. I’d like to have this beer along with a good supreme pizza and a small spinach salad.

This beer pours a brown body with a large head. Plenty of carbonation in this one! Consistent bubbles with a tiny bit of lacing. Classic soft citrus fruit in each taste and finishes with a battle between sweet and bitter. Nice beer over all.
