Commercial Description:
An English style special amber ale. This ale's full body imparts a distinctive malty, robust palate and fruity bouquet. Brewed from pale malted barley, Munich, crystal, carastan and a touch of chocolate malts, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

I really like it - this is almost what my first homebrew tasted like, but much better. Great fruitiness, with some raisin/licorice flavors. Somewhat creamy. Too light to be an amber but appropriate for a pale.

Bitter moderate, Body Medium, Nice amount of hops for an easy drinking beer. I do enjoy this brewing Company. hopefully one day they will do some sort of an imperial with this beer.

This was a really good beer. Light fruity aroma with a mellow malty flavor with just a touch of chocolate following off clean

Yowza! a gift from a weary travelor: Taste as good as it looked and lingered in the nose and mouth with a warming sensation of dates and figs. Unforgetable and nicely done.

Looking at the label, I’m not sure what a black labrador has to do with a California mountain range, but this ale makes for very nice drinking indeed. I’m more fond of this beer than some others. It has considerable brown ale flavor and some chocolate malt seems to impart a nice full-bodied drinking experience. It also has a terrific aroma. Some might view this as a tad sweet. Nice.
