Golden yellow body with a white head. Mild soapy nose. Flavor is clean with a small hoppiness. Refreshing lawnmower beer.

She poured a very malty, almost amber shade into my hefeweizen glass. A huge head brims over the top, but sadly fades into almost nonexistence on the top with a smidgen of a ring around the sides. A faint nose of malts and hops, but unfortunately no real tangible solid aromas I can put a finger on. Definitely no notes of cloves or coriander or bananas. I do detect a faint hint of citrus, but I really have to sniff for it. A steady stream of bubbles rises to the top of my glass as I go for my first quaff. A solid body with only light carbonation which defies the still streaming bubbles. A light sweetness hints of caramel. Along with having a medium body, the mouthfeel is very smooth and soft which could be due to the wheat used to make this kristallweizen. The finish is a bit bitter with some of the citrus I dredged up in the nose making a play for my tastebuds. As she warms a bit more citrus zing comes out to play, crisp grapefruit and lemons. The sweetness fades into the background a bit as the wheat and citrus takes the forefront. During this change, her viscosity diminishes and the body gains a watery feel. Some beers get better as they warm, but Crystal Weiss does not.
Maybe I am partial because I enjoy my hefeweizens so much, but I have had stellar wheat and weiss style beers before. I’ve had some mind-blowing kristallweizens before also. Sadly, Spanish Peaks Crystal Weiss underperforms and disappoints on pretty much all fronts. It’s not horrible, but not something I would seek out and buy.

12oz. Bottle: Faint aroma of light fruit and citrus. Poured gold/amber/apple juice in color with a medium-sized off-white head that disappeared quickly. Clear. Sparkling. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of caramel, apples, and wheat. Light to medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Lightly sweet wheat finish.

Medium gold colored body with a fluffy egg shell white head. The aroma was ligh bananas and lemon zest. There is also a little hitn of the clove. The taste has some over ripe bananas and strong clove in the finish. There was also a little bit of ABC gum. Overall, this is drinkable, but the nasty finish makes it a little unpleasant.
