Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Strong fruity nose of raspberry. Pours a sparkling copper. The mostly diminishing off white frothy head leaves light lace. The brew starts well balanced, the middle has a pronounced acidity, the finish is sweet and heavy on the raspberry flavor. The light to medium creamy body is lively. The finish feels slightly cloying.

Taste like a raspberry soda with a hint on honey mixed in. Nice flavoring, baut a little weak on the palate.

Unlike a lot of raspberry brews, this one tastes like it is supposed to have the raspbeery taste. Very drinkable. I have tried this at a Green Mill in Duluth, MN back in the mid 90’s as a ’black and black’ half black dog honey raspberry and half guinness. I got half messed up and went halvsies on a cab home.

Bottle. Pours dark orange with a thin white head. The aroma is fruity with a touch of wheat. Raspberry is very noticeable. Medium body. Flavor is again tart raspberry with a hint of wheat. It’s a pretty simple beer but it’s good for what it is.

Orangish-red color, with a quickly dissappearing head. Smells very sweet, almost like kool-aid. Hmm...okay, it kind of tastes like this. Take the previously mentioned raspberry kool-aid, make it a bit more bitter, and thicken it up. Thats about what you have here. Not too bad actually, although it will be too sweet for many beer lovers.

Bottle from BevMo. Dark amber color upon pouring. Lightly sweet, lightly tart berry aroma. Malty flavors up front. Slight fruity flavors. Decent fruit beer.

Red-amber with decent, creamy off-white head / Fresh raspberry nose / Medium body, some malts but minimal hopping, with fading finish / Bright flavors of raspberries / Simple, summer refresher, ultimately lacking in structure.

The aroma is very slight but that offsets the flavor which has a nice fruity tast that tingles the palate. I do not enjoy fruity beers all that much so the fact that this one is subtle in that way is to my surprise. The head is very thin and the color is alright. For a fruity beer this one is nice.
