Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Not a very strong aroma, but a nice suttle taste of raspberry in there. Great copper coloring with no head, an enjoyable beer.

Tastewise, this is quality stuff. The ABV is lower, which is a downside as far as bang for your buck, but this is actually a better tasting beer than the Winter Cheer, for example. I think that if this beer had a higher ABV it would get a higher rating.

Realy good beer. There wasn’t an overwlming taste of "fruity" in this beer. Great balance of ingredients. Smooth and very satisfying.

Mmmm - smells like raspberry jam, or a raspberry tart. There is a nice, dark brass glow to it, and a pleasant flavor of raspberry and grains, but it is not too sweet. This seems pretty wheaty for an ale. It makes me think of field of wildflowers. The brewer is in Colorado, but the label makes reference to Montana, yet it is brewed in Maryland(?).

Pours pleasing golden with a medium off-white head that laces prettily on the glass. Nose is raspberry, faint soap, faint malt. Flavor of raspberry overwhelms the mild malt backbone, with honeycomb and subtle floral hops at the end. Fairly sweet but finishes rather sour and dry. This is actually pretty good.

10/24/07 From the bottle. Aroma is slightly musty, with a sweet complex blend, a slight honey note, with low fruit that doesn’t seem to be soley raspberry. Appearance is medium clear gold with a moderate off-white head. Flavor is a tart fruit skin/malt blend forward with no harshness but still not smooth; it’s a little too sweet and this lingers into the finish. Mouthfeel isn’t bad, very light, but there is some astringency that lingers.

Reddish coppery color with minimal head. Aroma is strongly raspberry with little underlying beer essence. Taste is cardboardy and weird with a raspberry taste that seems to come only from the aroma. Minimal "beer" in the taste too. $1.5/12oz
