Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Visit the Spanish Peaks website.

A ho hum fruit beer. Less aroma than is typical of the style. Raspberries and some faint yeast is all I can detect. Pour was a murky dark gold/amber with no head. Taste was like a seltzer water with some raspberry flavoring. Sweetness that resembles honey in the aftertaste. Heavy carbonation. I’ve had better.

There is no false advertising here! It smells and tastes of raspberries and honey. The smell is a unique mix of raspberry and slight honey tints. Light amber in color with average head. It is a little over carbonated for my liking, but surprisingly good overall for a raspberry beer.

Pours amber with short lived head. Smell is big of raspberry and some honey more so as it warms up a bit. Taste is a sharp crisp carbonated bite with lots of tart raspberry flavor. Finish is smooth with a light lingering honey taste. Overall this is a decent fruit beer with a big raspberry taste, and is about what you’d expect. I may drink again if If I saw it, but since its not available here I won’t be too upset. Better, I thought, than Abita Purple Haze, another raspberry (wheat) beer.

Bottle. Nice copper color, little if any head. Watered down mouth feel. Aroma of raspberries, but flavor lacking enough fruitiness to be anything special.

Pours a two finger white head that fades quickly to a ring leaving no lace. Almost clear amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Honey raspberry nose. Flavor is sweet, not cloying, honey and some raspberry. Clean finish. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Capitol Convenience Concord, NH.

Pours a dark amber color with very little head. Starts out with rasberry taste and finishes with a factory generated taste. The beer is not that bad but I would not go out of my way to have another.

Tried a Spanish Peaks as an after shift drink. Sweet, fruit beer with flavor of wildflower honey in the finsih. With all the special ingredients, honey, NW hops and imported barleys I thought this Raspberry Ale would be more complex.

pours amber in color with minimal carbination. smell is of raspberry,s in a sweet way, light hops, not much else. taste is of candy berries and a little sweet honey and flower aftertaste. definitely tastes of an extract beer with that alcohol extract bite. drank many of these over the years and this has it’s place on a nice summer day for a picnic, and that is what these are for tomorrow one short of a six pack.
