Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Single bottle from Total Wine in Jacksonville FL. Aroma of raspberries overwhelms as this is poured. Pours a clear copper color with no head. Taste is watered down an unimpressive. A big disappointment with this beer.

Bottle, Waldo Pizza KCMO. Ordered the Black Dog Ale, got this. Pretty much ordered it to check off Montana, realized when I got to the site it was actually Colorado. Needless, to say, this one did not get off to a very good start. Pour is amber with a small to medium white head. Aroma is mostly the honey, and a bit of raspberry. Taste is actually not too bad, its a decent amber ale, with nice honey and fruit highlights. Neither were overpowering, and the whole thing worked pretty well.

clear amber pour with no head and little carbonation..aroma of raspberry fruit and shortcake (mildly sour nose)..flavor of a raspberry wheat beer, with a definite bread-like backbone...hints of sediment and stone as well..much better than i was expecting out of this beer

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear copper color. Head was thin and off white. It disappeared pretty quickly and left only scant lace behind. Malty raspberry aroma. Slightly sweet with raspberry and caramel flavors. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber body with thin head. Aroma is dominated by raspberries. Flavor is sweet with a light raspberry flavor and a large honey sweet taste. Well carbonated and slightly sugary. Not bad.

12 oz bottle. Nice beer. Pours a amber- red body. Aroma is crazy berries - like Starburst candy. Taste is fruit again - raspberries. Great beer.

Pours a deep copper with a light white head. Decent aroma of sweet berries. Powerful sweet right away on the palate with a little carbonation. Pretty sweet all the way through. More honey than raspberry. Probably a bit sweet to drink a lot of. Pretty good, though.
