Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Hard to be positive about this one. All I can say is why did I even try it as I knew what it would be like. A really light sweet slight raspberry beer. Shudder.

Bitterly dissappointed in this ale. I had such high hopes it looks nice smells mildly like rasberries. Just weak where is the flavour, I was promised rasberries and honey darnit. All I got was a miller light with a rasberry shoved in it. Instead of this buy a miller and some rasberries.

Aroma of fresh raspberries. Copper tinged amber color with a white head that laced a little as it filmed. Something of a creamy, medium body that thins as the mild carbonation leaves. The flavor is light raspberry backed by some hop bitter. Hard to say whether there’s honey. More raspberry in the aroma than the flavor. The finish is a bit flat. Raspberry seed bitter hangs around, but there’s not much hop. Given a choice, I’d take the raspberry ale from Great Divide.

Good raspberry aroma, little raspberry flavor. Basically a mediocre lager infused with a bit of raspberry and some one dimensional sweetness (the honey, I presume). Godawful at room temperature. Refreshing if chugged, but good beer should never be chugged. I give it bonus points for trying to be original, at least.

Soft, doughy, berry aroma with light vinegar. Clear, rose-tinged tea color, little head, good label. Dry, a little salty, light fruit and moderate floral character. Lightly bittered, medium to medium-light body, light carbonation but still comes off crisp enough. Floral and slightly tannic toast finish. Pretty clean drinking.

A little too much raspberry in the taste. The aroma is nice. Has a nice lightness to it. Good for a hot day. Worth a shot.

Aroma is like the bottle says, honey and raspberrr, but more of the latter. Copper colored with a thick tan head. One dimensional flavor, simply raspberry. Subtle grass finish.

12 ounce bottle from City Market in Burlington, VT (June 2007), dutifully consumed a little below cellar temperature from a Unibroue glass. Clear, slightly pinkish/rose colored brass, with a small tight lasting dollop of cream-colored foam, no lacing....uhh, ok it does smell like raspberries, light and mild raspberries, and not much else; perhaps a little cookie dough?....moderately sweet front on the tongue, dries out and dulls quickly to a dry, woody/cardboardy tasteless finish....there’s really not much else to say about this one folks, it’s dull and dessicated and a bit viscous/syrupy after just a few minutes’ warming, though it never approaches undrinkable. Yeah, that’s high praise.
