Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Slightly hazy amber body with a small creamy off-white head. Sweet light raspberry aroma with a hint of grain. Sweet raspberry flavor, some honey a touch of caramel and some grain.

I remember trying this back in the early 90’s, when the brewing really was done in Montana. Medium amber, OK head. Aroma faintly of raspberries. Flavor is that of a typical amber ale with a touch of pleasant raspberry syrup. Maybe not sophisticated, but surprisingly enjoyable. Flavors are how I remembered them.

12oz bottle. Perfumy smell & taste. Not bad for a fruit beer. Raspberry smell & taste very evident. Not bad at all

Not bad for a fruit beer, I guess. Pours an orangish amber with a small white head. Grainy aroma of malt, yeast, raspberry. Not overly sweet flavor ... sweet, earthy malt, berries, maybe a touch of honey. Light finish. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours a light copper color. Aroma is of fresh berries....very nice. Flavor is of raspberies, but it’s not as sweet as I expected a fruit based beer to be. Finish is much too quick. This is good, but not great. And it’s way, way, waaaaay over priced. For a good berry based beer I recommend the Founders Rübæus, Wittekerke Rosé, or for less money Leinenkugels Berry Weiss.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper with small, but lasting head. Aroma is raspberry, with faint hop grassiness. Flavor is raspberry, little else. Maybe some hops. I like raspberries, and think this was a good idea, but just overdone. Palate is dry, slightly astringent and tingly.
