Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Bottle. Pours a mostly clear copper with small, but lasting head. Aroma is raspberry, with faint hop grassiness. Flavor is raspberry, little else. Maybe some hops. I like raspberries, and think this was a good idea, but just overdone. Palate is dry, slightly astringent and tingly.

From a bottle pours nice amber color with not much head. Nice flavor with hints of raspberry. No real finish.

Bottle. Pours amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet raspberry, like raspberry soda. Taste is like raspberry soda with a hint of honey, finishing a bit more grainy. A bit artificial and soda-like, though not particularly bad.

12oz bottle -pours a fizzy, disappearing light tan head and amber color. Aroma is raspberry spritzer. Taste is sweet raspberry spritzer, grain, faint flat hops which carries to aftertaste. (wheat/light malt) Light/medium body. Good effervescence.

Bottle. Light amber toward orange-y in color. Weak head which quickly dissipates and leaves no lacing. Sweet fruity smell without a hint of hops. Thin in body with a raspberry middle and slightly tangy / bitter finish. Moderate to light carbonation. No discernable honey taste but the raspberry flavor would likely make this easy to drink for someone who doesn’t like a ’beer’ taste.

Pours amber with no head. Grassy aroma reminds me more of a lager. Flavor brings me back to those vitamin C tablets I used to chew as a kid. Well, that’s what this beer tastes like. And that flavor pretty much overwhelms anything else. OK.
