Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

This beer is very thin, and obviously not my favorite. The red/gold color is nice and looks like it tastes. I am not as impressed with this as I was Purple Haze. The slight taste of rasberries is noticeable, but there is definitely not a honey taste. I would say that these beers are more for people of cannot handle the very bitter beers. Toot hin for a person who loves stouts.

Pours amber golden with a fully receding off-white head. Aroma of light honey and mild raspberry, mixed with light toffee notes. Taste is fruity with notes of berry, tree fruit, and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Not too impressive.

This one doesn’t do much for me. Nice dark gold color, aroma of raspberry, palate of the same & watery taste, along with some crispness and tartness.

Bottle poured a clear amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of raspberrys, bread and a faint hint of honey. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, light honey and a hint of raspberry with a crisp dry lightly tart finish.

When I noticed the big blue pawprint on the crown of this bottle, I was reminded of the wildly unimpressive <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Beer/sea-dog-blue-paw Dog Blueberry Wheat from Shipyard. And when I cracked the bottle open, the aromas that came forth sadly reminded me of the same. (Although when you open a "Fruit Beer", I suppose you need to set yourself up for a bit of cloy and a "non-beer" experience.)

Well, it pours a bright amber body, mostly dead, with a fast head that is quickly just a halo. Aroma is indeed raspberry over a sour, creamy backdrop... conjuring the illusion of a cup of Yoplait yogurt. (Not Dannon, mind you, with it’s "fruit on the bottom" and other-such nonsense... but Yoplait, which has the fruit mixed in and has less of a tart overtone.) Mostly flat in the mouth, but a slight astringence leaves a tingle that arouses the palate. Flavor is mild and nutty/wheaty with the berries coming in softly before a bit of cough syrup in the finish. To be honest, this is really not a bad fruit beer.

Not so good. Poured amber/brown. Tasted light and refreshing with a bubbly carbonation. NO flavor of honey or fruit present. BAD.. DOG!

Little to no head. Smell is nice and sweet of honey and raspberries overtones. Flavor is weak with light fruit at first but not much more than water after that.

Very fruity bigining nose then changing to mild leather. Clear orange pour with a minimal white head. Fruit up front with a watery finish.
