Tastes OK upfront, but too much like seltzer water to put down. I’ll pass next time. fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 11, 2007 Nice amber color. Light and tarty aroma of raspberries. Medium mouthfeel, some malt and light raspberry fruitness. Average bitterness. Drinkable. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 7, 2007 Better than the average, syrupy-sweet and sick-inducing frut beer. A slight nose of--what else--raspberry. The fruit taste is not over-powering and tastefully balanced with the light, honey sweetness. An underlying alcohol warmth save this brew from being too sweet, but overall, there is little to reccomend this brew. cheapdark (2016), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jan 1, 2007 I’m not sure why I keep trying these fruit beers, after each one I sample I am usually disappointed., especially after having few good american ciders and that notorious Lindemans Fambrose raspberry. As far as fruit beers go, the best I’ve sampled has been Lancasters strawberry wheat and no other fruit beer has come closer though I’ve rated over a dozen others since then. I tried this because my local beer store retailer said it was new and I should try it. I see it says it is from the Spanish mountains in Montana, but it is mysteriously brewed in Denver Colorado, go figure. A 12 oz brown bottle, with a photo of the founders dog ‘chug’ on it. It even has ‘chug’ written on his collar. Pop the lid and there is not apparent aroma, then I pour it into my steeler stein and it does reveal a hint of raspberry fruitiness. The color is that of darker amber, a little more dark than the original yuengling. Has a slight whitish head that fades rapidly. There are a couple of spots in the stein were I see a few bubbles rising up. Initial taste does have some raspberries in there but it is less sweet than I expected. The flavor is refined and smooth for a fruit beer, just lacking engagement. Decent carbonation of the palate that is about average. The finish is not lingering bitterness, it is gentleman like. The finish saves this from being a below average beer. Better than most fruit beers I’ve sampled but as far as the fruit beer style goes, Lancaster strawberry wheat is still the best. On par with founders rubious, majic hat 9 and pyramid apricot. dp (512), uniontown, Ohio, USA

| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Dec 26, 2006 Beer for a woman. Tastes like Malt Liquor. This is not beer, it is a smirnoff drink. bochi23 (90), USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 20, 2006 bottle. small head, quickly gone. reddish orange color. as the name implies, strong raspberry aroma. raspberrry flavor is so strong it seems more like soda than beer. slight alcohol flavor that lingers (not pleasantly). I’m a bit sorry I bought a six pack of this stuff but I’ll manage to suffer through it or at least pawn it off on my dad. radagast83 (1302), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
