Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Pours a deep goldish amber color. Aromas of berries and sweet malt. Flavor of raspberry and a sweetness. Medium body with a berry aftertaste.

This bottled brew poured a medium sized head of of unnoted size mostly diminishing light tan bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained soft carbonation, was hazy and brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of fruity malty raspberry mix . Its mouth feel is tingly smooth and mild. Its flavor contained strange raspberry malt notes. Not a favorite. Too weird for me. Not one I would buy again.

Smells like mustard! Wasn’t expecting it to taste like mustard though. Little to no head and limited carbonation. BAD!

This beer is very carbonated; it pours with a frothy, though large bubbled and fairly quickly disappearing light brown colored head. The beer is a brilliantly clear amber-brown color. The aroma is of raspberries; sticky sweet, cough syrup like raspberries, and try as I might I don’t get anything else. The beer vaporizes as it hits my tongue b/c of the high level of carbonation. The beer is not nearly so sweet as the aroma would suggest; in fact it only has a light sweetness, which really helps the raspberry flavors from becoming too cloying. This beer is slightly tart and finishes with an odd astringent, almost tannic note to it. Somehow the taste is worse than the aroma, despite not bee sticky sweet. This beer is just not for me, thin on jarring to boot.

pours a light brown/dark golden color with no head and the slightest little bit of lacing. Aroma is heavy with raspberry and wheat. Flavor is is raspberry and wheaty with just a hint of sweetness on the palate. Very light and easy to drink beer, however, I personally thought the aroma was better than the flavor.

Bottle. Poured an orangish brown with a small fizzy, off- white head. Definite raspberry aroma, but a light caramel and hay detected also. The flavor of course is raspberry with a hint of honey and caramel. Light but nice raspberry aftertaste. Medium body, lively carbonation.

Impressive aroma almost tricks you into thinking you’re about to taste a lambic. Fruity sweetness is contrasted by a traditional ale personality for a unique taste.
