Commercial Description:
A light bodied amber ale made with wildflower honey and natural raspberry. These ingredients, combined with five domestic and imported malted barleys, Pacific Northwest hops, water and ale yeast, creat a unique, fruity ale with a soft palate and a touch of sweetness.

Editor's Note: It is unknown at present exactly where each of the Spanish Peaks beers are being brewed. Flying Dog no longer makes any of them. Some are brewed by City Brewery in LaCrosse, WI. Expect this beer entry to move as more recent info becomes available.

Impressive aroma almost tricks you into thinking you’re about to taste a lambic. Fruity sweetness is contrasted by a traditional ale personality for a unique taste.

Bottle. Dark ruddy amber color. Small tan head. Aroma is mainly raspberry and mild malt and wheat. Taste is berries, light honey, wheat and malts and though not "terrrible" seems a bit on the weak side. Some artificial notes as well. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. Finishes with more berry notes, sweet malts, light tartness, and faint honey. Not too bad at all!

12 oz. bottle. Pours an orangish brown. Not much aroma to this one. Flavor is of honey and raspberry and tastes pretty artificial. High level of carbonation. Easy drinking; a decent session beer, especially for the ladies.

Bottle. A maroon pour with a thin, dark-tan head. Aroma is of canned raspberries and some caramelly malts. Very faint hints of raspberry in the taste. Honey? Not in this beer. Very thin-bodied. This is almost like flavored water. A little bit of a dry, chemically aftertaste.

Cloying and sweet with over-the-top rasberry fruitiness, this brew lacked in the beer character department. It was closer to fruit juice with a splash of beer, and even then it tasted artificial and chemical-like. The honey imparted a smoothness but it couldn’t make up for the poor presentation of the final product.

Smells like artificial raspberry flavoring. Dark amber with the merest suggestion of a head. Very incongruous flavor palate. Some sweetness and obviously raspberry but it doesn’t form any cohesive taste structure. It’s like a Double Wide with Roman Columns on it.

Bottle. Pours a coppery amber with a frothy white head. Wheat and yeast aromas with a raspberry nose. Dry wheat flavor with a honey and raspberr finish. Light bodied and fizzy palate.
